Bobby Santos Starts Finale Weekend off Right
Wins Fourth NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Pole

THOMPSON, CONN. (October 16, 2010) - Bobby Santos III started the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour (NWMT) season finale at Thompson International Speedway off right. He won his fourth pole of the season with a fast lap of 18.709 seconds (120.263 mph). Following the redraw, Santos held onto the top spot for tomorrow's Sunoco World Series of Speedway Racing.

Santos drove the No. 4 Mystic Missile Dodge to the fourth-fastest time in the lone practice session on Saturday. He completed a fast lap of 18.845 seconds (119.395 mph). Championship contenders Mike Stefanik, who sits 37 points behind Santos, and Ted Christopher, who is currently fourth in the point standings, both posted the fastest practice time of 18.832 seconds (119.477 mph).

Qualifying followed, and Santos was the 20th modified to hit the track. He posted the fastest lap so far, beating Stefanik. Twelve cars followed, but no one passed Santos' fast lap, including Christopher. Santos also redrew the first position. When the NWMT field lines up for the season finale tomorrow, Santos will lead the field to the green flag. Eric Berndt will share the front row, while Christopher and Stefanik will take the second row. The green flag will wave at approximately 3 p.m. EST tomorrow for the final race of the 2010 NWMT season. The NWMT field will have 150 laps to battle for the win and the championship.
