Bobby Santos III NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Advance: Bristol Motor Speedway

Race: UNOH Perfect Storm 150
NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour: 11 of 14
Track: Bristol Motor Speedway
Date: August 18, 2010

Bobby Santos III and No. 4 Mystic Missile Racing team will compete in the UNOH Perfect Storm 150 at Bristol Motor Speedway (BMS) on Wednesday, August 18. This is the first race at BMS for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour (NWMT) this season.

BRISTOL MOTOR SPEEDWAY - Santos will make his first start at the famed-track on Wednesday, and he is the only championship-contender without experience at BMS. Although Santos will turn his first laps at BMS, his Mystic Missile team is the defending race winner, and Santos will be driving the car Donny Lia drove to victory lane in 2009.

SHORT-TRACK SUCCESS - Although the Franklin, Mass., native has never raced at the .533-mile track, all four of his NWMT career wins have come at short tracks, three of which have been in the 2010 season. His win at the high-banked Thompson International Speedway early in the season makes him a strong contender for the win this week at the high-banked BMS.

COMBINED COMPETITION - The UNOH Perfect Storm 150 will mark the only time in 2010 that the NWMT and the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour will compete together. Both series will compete for the same purse and overall finish but separate points.

LAST RACE RECAP: THOMPSON INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY - Looking for redemption from a 23rd-place finish at Stafford Motor Speedway, Santos posted fast lap times during practice and qualifying at Thompson International Speedway. He started the race from the second row and utilized pit strategy to try and gain track position. Unfortunately, the pit strategy did not give the 24-year-old a win, and he drove his No. 4 Mystic Missile Dodge to a third-place finish.

IN THE POINTS - After ten races, Santos currently sits in the runner-up spot in the point standings for the first time this season, a mere 14 points behind NWMT veteran Ted Christopher.

Bobby Santos III Quotes:

ON RACING AT BRISTOL MOTOR SPEEDWAY - "I am wicked excited for Bristol. I have never run there before. People always talk about it, and I have always wanted to run there. The team is bringing a good package down there. I think we will have a good car, so I am excited. I am going to try my hardest to win the race. That is our goal every race. It will mean a lot to win in front of bigger crowd and the truck series guys."
