Bobby Santos III Finds Success at Iowa Speedway
Finishes in the Top-10 in 180-Lap, Three-Race Marathon

Bobby Santos IIIMOORESVILLE, N.C. (May 25, 2010) - Last weekend, Bobby Santos III returned to Iowa Speedway, one of his favorite race tracks, to participate in the Casey's General Stores USAC Triple Crown "Pride of Iowa" event. Santos raced in all three USAC divisions at the Newton, Iowa, track. He went home with a win in the Mopar National Midget race, second in the AMSOIL National Sprint Car race and 10th in the Silver Crown Championship feature event.

Santos also found success in qualifying, landing on the pole for the USAC Mopar National Midget race. He led all but one lap in the K&N Air Filters Beast/Esslinger Ford, running for his family-owned Santos Motorsports team. Following a lap four restart, Santos lost the lead but was able to get back to the front on the very next lap. He went on to win the 30-lap race.

"I was really happy with the midget race," Santos said. "The car ran great, and our motor was fantastic. I don't think I would have been able to sit on the pole without the K&N filter making extra power for me. It was nice to start out front, and we had good racing throughout the event. It was a lot of fun."

Santos, one of six drivers participating in all three races, qualified fifth for the USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car race. Santos took the lead from pole sitter Shane Hmiel on lap 20 and led twice for a combined 12 laps. He settled for a second place finish after being passed by eventual race winner Bryan Clauson, with a few laps remaining in the 50-lap event.

"It was kind of a disappointing second place, but I am still happy with our result," Santos explained. "At this track, you can side draft past people, so on the restart he got past me and I didn't have time to get the lead back. I would have liked to make it to victory lane, but it was still exciting for my parents and family. I was really happy to finish well for them."

Santos finished Saturday's events by competing in the USAC Silver Crown Championship race for the RE Technologies Team. He qualified 15th for the race and worked his way forward over the course of the 100-lap event. Although he did not run as well as he expected, Santos fought his way to a 10th place finish.

"I had a bit of a rough day in the last race," Santos stated. "We ended up getting a top-10 finish, but we were not as good as we needed to be. Normally, I run well in this car, and the team runs better than this. So it was disappointing to be off." He added, "Overall, it was a good weekend for us. All of the races were exciting, fun racing, and the fans were awesome. I really like going to this race track."

Santos will return to the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour this weekend, racing at Stafford Motor Speedway this Friday, May 28. Following that event, he will fly to Indiana to participate in Saturday's 65th "Night Before the 500" USAC Mopar National Midget race at O'Reilly Raceway Park.
